Shatterproof has a growing reputation for providing access to the Performing Arts for those people who have been denied access elsewhere.

Whatever your ability you will be welcome to join our friendly group which is dedicated to working towards a common goal. At the same time we aim to challenge the myths and prejudice that exist around disability.

Shatterproof always performs original material which is specially written for us.This enables us to create roles to suit your acting talents and level of commitment.

So, as long as you are over the age of 16 and have an interest in performance then we are the group for you.. Shatterproof is made up of people of all abilities and if you are worried about learning lines, don’t, all our performances are unscripted !

Who Runs Shatterproof

Well, you will ! Once you have become a member you will have equal status and your views will count.

While some of us have a formal roles we all work as a team to achieve our goals.

You’ll be working with...People of all abilities and ages who enjoy being involved in the Performing Arts.

We not only run weekly Drama Workshops,which include mime, improvisation and Theatre skills, but also offer the opportunity to be involved in Performance.

Our session leaders are all qualified and have undergone recent DBS checks.

Access
The Carriageworks is fully accessible to wheelchair users.

The Headrow near the Art Gallery and  at Morrisons on Woodhouse Lane.
There are four disabled parking spaces opposite “Revolution” on Cookridge
Street where there is also a coach and taxi drop off point.

There is currently a waiting list for “Volunteers” If you would like experience of working with Special Needs or would just like to be involved in a worth while Project.

What will it cost ?

We offer you lots of fun while you pick upnew skills, and meet new people in a safe environment with a relaxed atmosphere. No previous experience required.

You can bring to us your sense of humor, your enthusiasm, and your ideas. As we only perform our own work you will have the opportunity to help shape our future.

We currently charge £2 per session which is used to fund our running costs and support our performances.

Shatterproof supports the concept of Equal Opportunities and will never deny access to anyone as long as they are ableto express as desire to be involved and are over 16.

Training: we offer training to those who are studying Performing Arts or are considering a career in the Care sector. This training is free. Some training will take place outside of normal session times.
